For over 20 years, Jill has cared for her veteran husband, Joe, following his return from combat in The Gulf War. Joe experienced "the other ultimate sacrifice" of coming home and battling paranoia, schizophrenia, bleeding, and delusions. He had become a stranger, and their family began a long and tumultuous journey of navigating their "new normal". In December 2019, Jill released her deeply personal account in the form of a novel, entitled "Home of the Unknown Soldier". With the lessons she learned over the years of being a caregiver, Jill's book is filled with her emotional and impactful personal experiences. She also uses her professional book writing skills to incorporate principles of emotional and spiritual recovery and health, self-care techniques, and lessons on how to negotiate circumstances that are out of your control.
